In recent days, a conversation has emerged regarding the location of H-Medix Pharmacy within the NNPC filling station premises in our community. As a resident of Life Camp who has benefited from this pharmacy, I welcome the conversation. In fact, I believe transparency is the foundation of trust, and trust is the foundation of healthcare.

Let us begin with an undeniable fact: since H-Medix opened its doors, it has been busy because our community needed it. And they showed up.

Life Camp is a highly residential area, home to families, working professionals, students, and elderly residents. Before H-Medix arrived, many of us had to travel significant distances for prescription, emergency supplies, or even simple health checks. Pharmacies are not luxuries; they are essential services. And essential services should be within reach.

H-Medix took that responsibility seriously. That is why H-Medix Life Camp operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether it is 2:00 PM or 2:00 AM, a licensed pharmacist is on duty, ready to assist. They do not just dispense medication, they offer basic health services like, drug counselling, and prescription evaluation, because they understand that healthcare does not always happen between 9am and 5pm. Sometimes, it happens in the middle of the night when a child has a fever or an elderly parent feels unwell and need basic medication unavoidably.

Let us also address what H-Medix is not. It is not a kiosk inside a fuel station. It is a standalone, fully enclosed, air-conditioned building with its own dedicated entrance, located several meters away from the fueling area and situated upstairs, physically separated by design. A solid demarcation stands between the pharmacy and the filling station which a structural barrier that ensures complete separation. Any suggestion that medicines are exposed to fuel vapors ignores this physical reality. H-Medix obtained its approval through proper legal representation, and due process was followed at every stage. The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) inspected their premises thoroughly, confirmed that they met all requirements and granted them a license. Their Legal Unit has since confirmed that they met all requirements, including specific demarcation protocols designed precisely for locations like this. Their judgment is not casual. It is the product of professional expertise and regulatory authority.

What does that mean in practice? It means their medicines are stored in a controlled environment, protected from heat, humidity, and external contaminants. It means they follow international standards for pharmaceutical storage. It means when you walk into H-Medix, you are walking into a facility that has been examined, approved, and licensed by the very authorities charged with protecting public health.

I am mindful that the experts and residents quoted in a recent publication, while entitled to their views, not only do not represent the community, but are also not more knowledgeable or experienced than the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria itself. The PCN is staffed by pharmacists, regulators, and inspectors whose entire profession is dedicated to protecting public health. If they examined this facility and found it compliant, that should carry far more weight than any individual opinion offered from outside.

It is no secret that H-Medix entered the Life Camp market and quickly became a trusted choice for many residents. I believe this is because they listened to what the community wanted: convenience, extended hours, professional staff, and access to essential services.

However, it appears that not everyone welcomes progress. I am aware that certain interests including operators of other pharmacies in the area have watched their foot traffic decline as residents choose H-Medix. Rather than improving their own services, extending their hours, or hiring additional qualified staff, some have chosen a different path: spreading misinformation and attempting to weaponize public concern for commercial gain. This is unfortunate. The people of Life Camp deserve better.

H-Medix is here because the law permits them to be. They are here because the regulators have approved them. But most importantly, they are here because our community has welcomed them with our trust and our patronage.

I hope they will continue to serve. I hope they will continue to keep their doors open 24 hours a day. I hope they will continue to employ licensed pharmacists who live in and care about this community. And I encourage them to continue inviting scrutiny, because we know that the truth favors those who operate with integrity.

To my fellow residents of Life Camp: if you have not visited H-Medix yet, I encourage you to do so. To those with genuine concerns: their doors are open. Go see for yourself.
