Two men, Adamu Abdullah, 30, and Bachari Muhammed, 23, were on Monday arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing three cows valued at N12 million.

The duo, whose addresses were not stated, are standing trial on charges bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Friday Maneh told the court that the defendants conspired to commit the offence on March 15, at about 8:50 p.m, at Shofoluwe Junction, in the Magbon area of Badagry.

He alleged that they stole three cows valued at N12 million belonging to a complainant, one Mr Kehinde Odumuyiwa.

They were alleged to have sold and converted the proceeds for their personal use.

“The defendants were arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution,” he said.

They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor said the offences contravene the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr A J Aina, granted the defendants bail in the sum one million naira each, with two sureties each in like sum.

The court held that one of the sureties must be a community leader.

He adjourned the case until May 12, for mention.
