Police arrest three suspects over killing of four FRSC officers in Kebbi

Officers and men of the Mobile Police Force (MPF) in Kebbi State have arrested three suspects believed to be members of Mamudawa criminal outfits who killed four officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at Illo town in Bagudo LGA of Kebbi State.

 

Parading the criminals before newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Birnin-Kebbi, the Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Adija, revealed that the three suspects, namely Muhammadu Bandi, Aliyu Abubakar and Muhammadu Abubakar, were arrested on a motorcycle while heading to Lolo town to buy food for their colleagues in the forest.

 

According to the Commissioner, preliminary investigation revealed that these suspects were linked to movements around the area during the attack that claimed the lives of three FRSC personnel at Illo town.

 

The Commissioner of Police also stated that members of the Mobile Police Force deployed on special duty along Ka’oje–Bakin Ruwa road in the same Bagudo LGA intercepted and arrested four suspects identified as Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Anme Shehu and Yahaya Shehu.

 

He assured that these suspects are being investigated over their involvement in armed bandit activities within Soda forest in Bagudo, adding that the case is being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department.

 

The police boss also disclosed that some vigilante members of Zazzagawa Village in Argungu LGA said one Murtala Sani of Zazzagawa Village was arrested on suspicion of providing logistical support to suspected Lakurawa terrorists.

 

Preliminary investigation, according to him, revealed that the suspect was allegedly involved in supplying foodstuffs and soft drinks to criminal elements, pointing out that the suspect had on several occasions conveyed one Adamu Umar, a suspected member of the Lakurawa terrorist group, from Zazzagawa Village to a terrori
