Thousands of young Nigerians  gathered at Meena Events Centre, Kano, for MTN Nigeria’s The Gathering on 100 on Saturday July 11th. The city transformed into an immersive space for entrepreneurship, creativity, gaming, networking and entertainment.

The event, which followed successful editions in Surulere, Aba and Enugu, provided attendees with opportunities to showcase their talents, build meaningful connections and participate in experiences designed around collaboration, creativity and self-expression.

The Gathering on 100 featured a wide range of interactive experiences that reflected the diversity of youth culture in Kano. Young Kano residents  participated in networking sessions, startup pitches, gaming tournaments, football matches, fashion showcases, podcast conversations, karaoke, movie pods, Pictureton, silent disco, sip-and-paint sessions and the highly anticipated 100 Moves dance competition. Across the venue, young people engaged with activities that encouraged participation rather than passive entertainment.

The choice of Kano reflects the city’s growing significance as one of Nigeria’s largest youth populations and an emerging hub for innovation and enterprise. According to the National Bureau of Statistics’ National Baseline Youth Survey, Kano accounts for one of the largest shares of Nigeria’s youth population, reinforcing its position as an important centre for youth engagement, entrepreneurship and skills development. The city’s growing investment in digital skills and innovation has also created new opportunities for young people to build careers and businesses across multiple sectors.

Speaking at the event, Abu-Sufyan Aliyu, Senior Manager, Sales, North-East Region, MTN Nigeria said “The Gathering on 100 is our way of inspiring young Nigerians to Live It 100, take bold steps and dream bigger”.

Beyond the competitions and performances, attendees spent 10 hours building new relationships, discovering opportunities and celebrating the creativity that continues to shape young communities across Nigeria. The Pitchathons, networking, gaming arena and community mural became the busiest spaces, creating moments that extended beyond entertainment and encouraged collaboration among participants.

The Kano edition marked another successful stop, as The Gathering on 100 continues to create platforms where young Nigerians can express themselves, develop ideas, connect with peers and confidently Live It 100. The movement will continue in Abuja as it expands its reach to more young people across the country.
