The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa branch, has pledged to continue to uphold excellence and contribute to the educational development of the state.

The newly elected chairman of the branch, Comrade Kola Olomide, said this after the election that ushered in a new executive council for the union.

According to him, the union is poised to ensure the welfare of its members without compromising the high standard for which the institution is known.

Olomide, who acknowledged the sacrifices of past leaders of the union, said efforts would be made not to lower standards but to improve on what has been achieved.

He said: “I am overwhelmed and deeply humbled by the confidence you have reposed in me by electing me as the new chairman of our great union, ASUP, Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa chapter.

“I stand on the shoulders of giants, and I must first acknowledge the sacrifices and struggles of our past leaders who have brought our chapter to this enviable height. Your approval at the polls is not just a vote for me, but a mandate to serve, to protect our collective interests and to uphold the dignity of our profession.”

“I do not take this responsibility lightly. I am aware of the tasks ahead; the challenges are many, but with unity, intellectual rigour and the spirit of comradeship that define ASUP, we shall navigate them together.

“This victory is ours collectively. I look forward to working with every one of you , the Executive Committee and the Congress, to build a stronger, more vibrant and progressive union.”

Apart from Olomide, others elected into the executive council were Vice Chairman, Engr. Dipo Olagunju; Secretary, Engr. Adewale Alabi; Assistant Secretary, Comrade Akin Adekanmbi; Treasurer, Dr Wole Ogunjobi; Auditor, Engr. Wale Olawoore; Public Relations Officer (PRO), Dr Jare Alabi; Financial Secretary, Comrade Taiwo Odusina; and Welfare Officer, Mrs Tomi Adewole.
