Gunmen believed to be hired killers stormed the home of a 35-year-old businessman, Safiyanu Garba, in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi metropolis in the early hours of Friday, killing him instantly and abducting his pregnant wife, whom they whisked away to an unknown destination.

According to the police spokesman, Bashir Usman, in a press statement, detectives promptly visited the scene and commenced necessary investigations. It was observed that a police checkpoint is situated not far from the scene of the incident, which could have been alerted for a rapid response.

The victim was taken to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital morgue.

The statement further stated that the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure a thorough and diligent investigation aimed at rescuing the abducted victim and bringing those responsible to justice.

Members of the public are enjoined to always promptly report any emergency situation to the police for rapid response, as timely information is crucial to averting incidents of this nature.
