Mozeed Adam has emerged as the 39th President of the Students’ Union at the University of Ilorin following the election held on Wednesday, 17.
Adam, a 400-level Law student, secured victory with 14,216 votes, defeating his closest rival, Ayanshina Olamilekan Sodiq, who polled 13,222 votes. The results were announced by the University of Ilorin Independent Students Electoral Commission (UISEC), triggering jubilation across campus.
In his appreciation message, Adam dedicated his win to every ‘Unilorite.’ He said, “This victory is not mine alone, but a mandate for every ‘Unilorite’ who dared to believe in a vision of a more responsive, efficient, and model union.”
The message, titled “A mandate for efficiency,” outlined his Power Agenda built on operational efficiency, technological integration, and inclusive advocacy. The agenda, he said, represents “a contract with every Unilorite” to deliver a union that works.
The victory was decided by a margin of 994 votes, according to the result announced.
Adam extended a hand of fellowship to his running mate, Ayanshina and pledged to move “beyond the campaign stage into a period of tangible executions.”
He said his administration would be guided by the Power Agenda to deliver a “model and efficient union.”
UISEC also announced winners for other key positions, to include Fathia Adeyemo as vice president, Oluwafemi Oguntuwase as general secretary, AbdulRahman Mukaas financial secretary, and others as senators from each faculty.
The date for the swearing-in ceremony is yet to be announced.
