A housewife, Aisha Hamisu, has prayed for the dissolution of her marriage to her husband, Nasiru Yinusa, over his inability to provide for her and their children at an Upper Area Court in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Aisha told the court that she got married to Nasiru under the Islamic Law in 2021.
She alleged that Nasiru abandoned his responsibilities as husband and father towards her and their only child.
“My husband took me back to my father’s house.
“He disrespects me and my parents by insulting us.
“He does not provide for my feeding and I am suffering with our child without any help,’’ she said.
She begged the court to dissolve their marriage on the grounds of lack neglect, starvation and disrespect to her parents.
Nasiru denied the allegations against him and told the court that he normally provides food for her and the baby.
He also added that he did not want a divorce.
The judge, Mr Yahaya Sheshi, adjourned the case till July 5 for the petitioner to bring her witnesses.
