One of the most distressing evils in journalism is the deodorization of evil: what I called a false category or a “linguistically sophisticated suppression of truth” in my inaugural piece on this page on October 16, 2021. At the moment, a mob of hateful, violent South Africans is committing war crimes against other Africans, but media reports are deodorizing them as “activists.”
In the name of “activism,” foreigners are being beaten to a stupor, stabbed, shot, or burnt alive. Thousands of South Africans pounce on helpless fellow Blacks, assaulting them with sticks, stones, machetes, knives, and other weapons. Many victims have given gory details of severe beatings or cruel treatment. Homes and shops owned by migrants are being invaded, looted, and vandalized, and the occupants mauled. Vehicles are being set on fire, and even young children forcibly removed from schools are being tortured with sadistic relish. Worse still, migrant women are being raped, stabbed to death, and stripped naked as the police, the military, and other security agencies look away, delighted to see the sad fate of the “kwerekwere” whom they regard as a subhuman species. The air is thick with acid rains of intimidation, verbal abuse, and threats, and migrants are being stripped literally bare. Hordes of lazy, demonic, and senseless Mzansis are beating up shop owners, confiscating their properties, and attacking even foreigners heading to the airport for an onward journey back to their home countries, without the police offering any succour. In their blind rage and bloodlust, the xenophobes are even turning on fellow South Africans who do not speak Zulu, subjecting them to heart-rending indignities.
When the xenophobes attacked Nigerians, Malawians, Zimbabweans, Mozambicans, Ghanaians, Kenyans, Somalis, Ethiopians, and others in 2008, the authorities merely huffed and puffed. They maintained the same posture as murderous mobs spread across parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng in 2015, and they have done the same between 2019 and this year, when Mzansi vermin descended on hapless foreigners, raping, robbing, and killing them with demonic zest. President Cyril Ramaphosa, the xenophobic nationalist who supervises the horror while pretending to be concerned with the wanton bloodshed by his hounds, is as usual busy offering platitudes, recreating Botha brutality in Mzansi garb.
Of course, the xenophobes are lunatics. Hear Nkosiikhona Phakel’umthakathi, one of the leaders of the horde from hell: “South Africa can pay every South African 1 million for the rest of their lives. We don’t even need to work. We can have these legal migrants come to South Africa to work for us, like in Dubai. In the UAE, only foreigners are working. Arabs aren’t working.” If the South African government were to give each of its 65.45 million citizens this sum, it would need R65.45 trillion annually to do so. Its 2026 national budget is only a fraction of this figure at R2.67 trillion. Pray tell, if South Africans did not work, how would the government generate revenue to meet the R65.45 trillion obligation? Such a payout, carried out through printing of rand on a massive scale, would immediately trigger catastrophic hyperinflation and socioeconomic collapse, but Phakel’umthakathi and his co-xenophobes think that they have a sensible proposal. How would the government fund public infrastructure, healthcare, and education, etc?
You do not even have to know anything about the UAE to puncture the lie that its citizens do not work. There is no country with such a dastardly profile on this planet. While foreigners indeed dominate the UAE population and workforce, native citizens — Emiratis and other Arabs — are very much active in the job market. They dominate the public sector and are highly visible in professional fields like business, finance, medicine, engineering, law, and media.
The life that Phakel’umthakathi and his goons want is patently destructive. They want to wake up, eat, have sex, drink themselves to a stupor, and repeat the routine till they literally explode. They are depraved lunatics actively nurtured by an irredeemably corrupt ruling class gorging itself on the resources of the country and sustaining the filthily inequitable economic structures emplaced by the white population to keep the Black population down perpetually.
Listening to the xenophobes talk, you cannot help but notice their chronically impoverished mental horizon. They speak about other Africans in the most pejorative terms and must certainly think that the over 242 million Nigerians living in Nigeria covet a South African visa. I bet they think that Nigerians live inside trees. They are a dangerously ignorant, hate-filled mob without any future. As I have said on this page before, when there are no foreigners left to kill, they will resume the ancient wars and tear one another to pieces. These are not reasonable people; they are mental slaves who live in la-la land. They believe they have a country dripping with gold and do not have to work, only pursue sadistic pleasure through looting, rape, robbery, and murder. It would take at least a century to re-educate them and reset their brains. They are an unhinged, mentally crushed, barbaric lot. When you try to reason with them, they bring out knives. They constitute the world’s most depraved savages, and you will inevitably die if you try to live among them. Ask Big Ben, the Nigerian businessman they murdered in cold blood this week. Ask the Ugandan woman they killed by preventing medical personnel from attending to her. Ask the Nigerian man whose wife and children they slaughtered, and who returned home with only his breath. Ask the Kenyan and Somali women, etc., whom they raped under the guise of fixing their country. Ask Chidinma Adetshina, who was born in South Africa, yet was almost killed by the xenophobes. Ask even their own women married to foreigners, whom they have dragged and molested on the streets.
In Samuel Selvon’s The Lonely Londoners, the character Galahad (Henry Oliver) says to his friend Moses: “It is not we that the people do not like, it is the colour black.” Galahad was referring to white Londoners of the 50s, but today his words ring true for the Black Africans daily mauled and butchered in the streets of South Africa.
I urge governments across Africa to document the atrocities of the xenophobes and respond with devastating sanctions. It is time to cure the madness of these murderous xenophobes.
