The winners of the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) national elections have emerged after voting ended and the Electoral Committee of the NBA (ECNBA) released the results on Sunday.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okunsanya, was elected the 33rd President of the association after defeating two other senior lawyers in the presidential race.
The Chairman of the ECNBA, Aham Ejelam, SAN, announced the presidential result at the NBA National Secretariat in Abuja.
Badejo-Okunsanya scored 12,317 votes, representing 47.18 per cent of the total votes cast. Her closest rival, Lateef Akangbe, SAN, polled 7,934 votes (30.39 per cent), while Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, secured 5,855 votes (22.43 per cent).
With her victory, Badejo-Okunsanya will serve as NBA president from 2026 to 2028. She also becomes only the second woman to lead the association after Priscilla Kuye, who served as NBA president from 1991 to 1992.
The results published on the ECNBA portal and confirmed by Ejelam showed that 26,184 lawyers voted out of the association’s 82,172 registered voters, giving a voter turnout of 31.86 per cent.

Tribune Online had earlier reported that Badejo-Okunsanya emerged as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association after defeating Lateef Akangbe, SAN, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, in the keenly contested presidential election. She will lead the association for the next two years, from 2026 to 2028.
