The Chairman-elect of Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Comrade Kasim Mohammed Ikwa, under the platform of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has dismissed reports on social media alleging his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ikwa stated that he remains “a proud, committed, and card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”, stressing that claims of any plan to defect are entirely false.

The Gwagwalada chairman-elect described the reports as baseless and misleading, stating that the rumour being circulated by desperate elements within the All Progressives Congress (APC) is nothing more than cheap propaganda aimed at confusing the public.

“There is no meeting, no negotiation, no discussion, and no intention whatsoever to defect,” the chairman-elect stated.

He added that those spreading the falsehood are either mischief-makers or individuals politically unsettled by the clear mandate freely given to him by the electorate.

According to him, the people of Gwagwalada have spoken decisively at the polls, and no amount of rumour-mongering can alter or rewrite their democratic choice.

Ikwa urged residents to disregard the unfounded reports and remain focused on the collective task ahead, delivering inclusive and effective governance to the people of Gwagwalada Area Council.
