A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, and an aspirant for the House of Representatives seat for Akure South/North federal constituency, Honourable Olumuyiwa Adu, has dismissed claims that the party is in crisis in the state

Adu, who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Akure, the state capital, insisted that what some observers described as internal wrangling is a resistance against imposition and undemocratic practices.

Adu, who stated this against the backdrop of perceived divisions within the party, argued that “things are not really falling apart” but said that the current tensions within the party stem from efforts to dismantle entrenched interests that previously dominated the political structure in the state.

According to him, before the emergence of the current governor, “a lot of things happened which led to a situation where some people believed they were in control of the state.”

He described the development as one where “a set of individuals believed they must remain there perpetually”, regardless of the electorate’s role in choosing leaders.

He added that such practices may have worked in the past but stated that “it can’t work that way” in order to move forward.

He maintained that the resistance to what he termed irrationalities and imposition may naturally create tension but would ultimately strengthen democracy in the state.

The APC leader further noted that divergent opinions within the party should not be mistaken for collapse but seen as part of democratic growth.

Despite the visible frictions, he insisted that the unfolding developments signal progress rather than decline, affirming that Ondo State is advancing in its democratic processes.
