Kano State Ministry of Education has announced Sunday, March 1, 2026, as the commencement date for the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr (Sallah) break for all public and private primary and post-primary schools across the state.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on February 25, 2026, indicating that the decision aligns with the approved 2025/2026 academic calendar.

According to the calendar, the second term is scheduled to end on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The directive affects both day and boarding schools.

Parents and guardians of pupils and students in boarding schools have been instructed to collect their wards by the early hours of Friday, 27 February 2026.

Under the arrangement, boarding school students are expected to resume on Sunday, March 22, 2026, while day students will return on Monday, March 23, 2026.

The statement, signed by Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, Director of Public Enlightenment at the ministry, further clarified that the second term will continue from Sunday, March 22, 2026, and conclude on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

All public and private schools in the state have been directed to strictly adhere to the approved holiday and resumption dates, with a warning that any non-compliance will be treated as a breach of the state government’s directive.

The Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, called on parents and guardians to ensure full adherence to the resumption schedule.

He also expressed appreciation to parents, guardians, and residents of the state for their continued cooperation and support, while wishing pupils and students a successful Ramadan fast and a hitch-free Sallah celebration.
