GOVERNORS from Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Kogi, Niger and Nasarawa states have expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing what they described as transformations in the nation’s economy and other sectors under his administration.

This is just as wife of the president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, expressed optimism that the economic hardship facing Nigerians would come to an end, assuring citizens of improved living conditions if President Tinubu secures another term in office.

She spoke at the All Progressives Congress (APC) North-Central mega rally held at Lafia Square, the Nasarawa State capital, where governors from the region endorsed President Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In his welcome address, Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, declared that the state would vote for the APC presidential candidate and all other candidates of the party.

Sule expressed confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, reaffirming the state’s commitment to the APC and its candidates.

Also speaking at the rally, the First Lady highlighted some initiatives of the present administration, including interventions in healthcare, road construction and education, particularly the student loan scheme designed to improve access to higher education.

According to her, a renewed mandate for President Tinubu would usher in what she described as tremendous Renewed Hope for the country, with expectations of further progress in addressing the challenges facing Nigerians.

Her remarks formed part of the APC’s efforts to mobilise support for the President and other party candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The mega rally attracted APC leaders, party stakeholders, supporters and political associates from across the North-Central geopolitical zone.

Benue APC supporters going for the mega rally involved in auto crash

Some supporters of APC from Benue State travelling to Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, for the North-Central mega rally were involved in an auto crash.

Sunday Tribune learnt that the supporters were travelling to Lafia for the rally organised in support of the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima when the accident occurred.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the bus conveying the APC supporters from Benue had a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle within Lafia town.

Confirming the incident, the Publicity Secretary of the Austin Agada-led faction of the Benue APC, which is loyal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, Daniel Ihomun, said the accident happened in Lafia.

According to Ihomun, the victims were loyalists of the SGF who had travelled to the Nasarawa State capital to attend the mega rally.

He said, “It’s true some APC supporters from Benue, who are loyalists of the SGF, were involved in an auto crash today while coming for the mega rally for President Bola Tinubu.

“The accident happened within Lafia. Thank God there was no casualty, but the victims have been taken to hospital,” Ihomun said.

The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, had on Thursday announced plans to hold the mega rally in Lafia following a high-level meeting of North-Central APC stakeholders in Abuja.
