…assures of more grassroots mobilisation across Nigeria

Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, has thanked President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to sponsoring executive bills aimed at improving women’s representation in elective and appointive positions, assuring him of sustained grassroots engagement across Nigeria.

President Tinubu had assured Nigerian women of his support for the bills, declaring that efforts would be made to increase their representation in the National Assembly and at the subnational level.

The President gave the assurance during the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he acknowledged the critical role of women in political mobilisation and democratic development.

“You women are the greatest mobilisers and foot soldiers of our democracy,” Tinubu said.

He urged women leaders to intensify their advocacy around the six bills, expressing confidence that their efforts would yield the desired results.

“Go and work for them, and I assure you that they will come to fruition,” the President said.

Speaking during an interview shortly after the President’s remarks, Edu expressed appreciation for his commitment to advancing women’s representation, describing the proposed legislation as an important step towards strengthening women’s participation in governance.

She reaffirmed her commitment to engaging women across communities and strengthening grassroots structures to support greater female participation in the political process under the supervision of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Edu’s remarks underscored her appreciation of the President’s assurances on women’s representation and her commitment to expanding grassroots engagement across the country. She assured him that women would reciprocate the gesture during the 2027 general elections.
