Former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has died at the age of 71.

Uduaghan, who led Delta State for eight years between 2007 and 2015, died on the morning of Monday, October 19, 2026.

His death was announced in a statement issued by the family and signed by Toju Anire Uduaghan.

The family described his death as a significant loss, highlighting his contributions to the lives of people across Delta State and Nigeria.

“He was a source of strength, a father figure, a beloved brother and uncle, and a respected elder. We will deeply miss his presence and forever cherish the memories and legacy he leaves behind,” the statement said.

Before his election as governor in 2007, Uduaghan held key positions in the Delta State Government, serving as commissioner for health from 1999 to 2003 and secretary to the state government from 2003 to 2007.

During his two terms as governor, he focused on human and infrastructural development across the state.

The family also expressed gratitude to God for his life and years of service, while offering prayers for comfort for relatives, friends, associates and others mourning his death.

“Your memory will forever remain in our hearts, and your legacy will endure in the lives of those you touched,” the statement added.
