Former BBNaija housemate, reality star and rapper Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, popularly known as Laycon, has opened up about how he struggled with losing his inner voice after emerging as the winner of the Big Brother Naija reality show in 2020.

Speaking in a recent video broadcast titled Life With Laycon, the ‘Fierce’ crooner revealed that he lost touch with his inner voice shortly after his victory on the show and only reconnected with it about a year later.

According to him, the moment came in December 2021 after his sold-out concert, The Icons Fest.

Reflecting on the experience, Laycon explained that silence has been a constant factor in his journey of self-discovery.

“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left are your own thoughts?” he asked.

“I have been there and I want to share a part of that experience with you. After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice and the first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest,” he said.

He explained that when the inner voice returned, it began asking him difficult but necessary questions about his life and direction.

“The voice kept asking me questions like, ‘Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this? Are you happy?’ Questions that made me want to sit alone with my thoughts. So, that’s what I did,” he said.

Laycon added that those moments of reflection brought several uncomfortable but important realisations about himself.

The rapper also noted that many people struggle with personal growth because they are afraid to embrace loneliness and silence.

According to him, silence, though uncomfortable, plays a vital role in self-development.

He described silence as a mirror that reflects a person’s life through their thoughts and helps them identify areas that need change.

Laycon therefore urged his fans to embrace solitude and self-reflection as a way of holding themselves accountable and achieving personal growth.
