The Bauchi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Usman Adamu Suphi, on Sunday unveiled Abdulqadir Alin Bababa as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
Suphi also commissioned the faction’s state secretariat located on Kobi Street in Bauchi metropolis, marking the formal inauguration of the group in the state.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the PDP faction in Bauchi State, Ibrahim Kashim Toro, said the unveiling of the deputy governorship candidate and the commissioning of the secretariat signalled the party’s readiness for the 2027 electioneering campaign.
He described Suphi as the best among the governorship candidates expected to contest the 2027 election in the state.
Toro also praised the governorship candidate for empowering youths across the state without discrimination, describing him as a generous leader.
He maintained that there was no faction in the PDP, insisting that claims of division within the party existed only “in the imagination of peddlers.”
Expressing confidence in the party’s chances, Toro said the PDP would reclaim the Bauchi State Government House in the 2027 governorship election.
While unveiling his running mate, Suphi said the choice of Abdulqadir Alin Bababa was based on the need to assemble a formidable team capable of governing the state from May 29, 2027.
He described Bababa as an experienced politician with a proven record of leading the PDP to electoral victories in previous elections in the state.
According to him, “We went through a rigorous selection process before settling on him. He enjoys widespread acceptance across the various segments of the party and among stakeholders.
In his acceptance speech, Bababa pledged to be a loyal team player and expressed confidence that the PDP would return to power in Bauchi State in 2027.
He thanked the governorship candidate for choosing him as a running mate and assured him that he would not betray the confidence reposed in him.
Bababa also appreciated party stakeholders for endorsing his nomination.
The secretariat was officially inaugurated by the Secretary of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Hon. Isa Dansidi, who represented the party’s National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed.
Dansidi expressed optimism that the PDP would emerge victorious in the 2027 general elections in Bauchi State, saying the new secretariat would strengthen the day-to-day administration and activities of the party in the state.
