The outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede, has commissioned the JAMB Mega Professional Registration Centre (PRC) in Maiduguri, Borno, describing it as a major investment that will improve access to tertiary education across the North-East.
The ultra-modern facility, worth N1 billion, donated by the Borno State Government, was inaugurated alongside the incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina.
Built on a 5,300-square-metre expanse of land, the centre is fully fenced and landscaped and is powered by a newly installed 300kVA transformer.
The main office complex comprises eight offices, three conference rooms, four registration areas and 16 convenience facilities. It also houses two Computer-Based Test (CBT) halls equipped with 275 computers each, enabling the facility to accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and up to 2,000 candidates daily during examinations.
The centre further features two spacious waiting areas with a combined capacity of 500 candidates at a time, as well as six additional convenience facilities to enhance candidates’ comfort while awaiting their examination sessions.
The foundation of the project was laid by Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, on February 24, 2026, and was completed in less than six months, ahead of the completion timeline earlier set by the governor.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Prof. Oloyede expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum for what he described as a monumental investment in education, noting that the facility would significantly ease the challenges faced by candidates across the North-East seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
He commended the governor’s unwavering commitment to educational development, describing his support for JAMB and the education sector as exceptional.
According to Oloyede, the JAMB delegation also visited some of the smart schools established by the Borno State Government and was impressed by the administration’s determination to make education the cornerstone of its development agenda.
The incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, also lauded Governor Zulum for the strong partnership between the state government and JAMB, urging the sustenance of the collaboration to further strengthen the Board’s operations and promote educational development in the state.
In his remarks, Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising education as the most effective tool for addressing the state’s social and economic challenges.
He disclosed that the Borno State Government invested more than N1 billion in the construction of the mega CBT centre, stressing that the long-term benefits of the project far outweigh its cost.
The governor said the JAMB mega CBT centre reflects his administration’s resolve to provide world-class educational infrastructure that will improve access to quality education and examination services for candidates in Borno State and the wider North-East region.
