Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has tasked the new management of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) on effective distribution of power in order to enhance the growth of the small and medium-scale businesses.

Ladoja gave the task while receiving on a courtesy visit the new management led by its Chairman, Chief Tunde Afolabi, at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.

He noted that one of the critical needs of Nigerians is power supply.

“In Nigeria, we are not generating enough power. Worse still, the grid collapses very often. The epileptic electricity supply has led many domestic and commercial users of electricity to take solace in the installation of solar panels and acquisition of generators to supplement the electricity supply in their respective homes and offices, while another challenge is staffing.

“All these challenges adversely affect business operations as they drive the cost of doing business high.”

The Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas, however, told his guests that they have competence and managerial resources to overcome the enumerated challenges.

Earlier in his welcome address, the IBEDC Chairman, Chief Afolabi, stated that the new IBEDC is ready to improve electricity supply to consumers.

He also noted that IBEDC is the biggest electricity distribution company, saying they owe it a duty to serve the customers.

Other members of the Olubadan Advisory Council in attendance include: Otun Balogun, Oba Kola Adegbola, Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Asipa Balogun, Oba Abiodun Azeez Agagagugu, and Ekerin Balogun, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin.
