Amidst growing anger trailing list of candidates in some of its state chapters, the governors on the party platform have resolved to meet the National Chairman of the party, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.

The governors took the decision at an emergency meeting held on Tuesday at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, presided.

In attendance were governors of Lagos, Zamfara, Ekiti, Taraba, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Borno and Akwa Ibom, among others.

Sources at the meeting disclosed that some of the governors were peeved that candidates they endorsed for National Assembly seats were missing on the final list uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the APC National Working Committee led by Professor Nentawe, fuelling speculation that the list was tinkered with.

Findings revealed that the party national leadership has since commenced uploading of its candidates, starting with National Assembly to the INEC portal.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Governor Uzodimma merely dropped hint of a proposed meeting with the APC National Chairman but silent on the disaffection of his colleagues.

He said, “We have resolved to work towards solving the problems and challenges facing our democratic space and ensuring that our people are better off.

“We also resolved to meet with the leadership of the party to plan the coming 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections. We are ready and good to go.”

He further declared that the Forum is ever willing to collaborate with Professor Yilwatda to strengthen the party ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
