As the Osun State governorship election approaches, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has urged religious leaders to continue praying for a peaceful electoral process.
Oyebamiji appealed on Sunday during a special prayer session organised in his honour by the Osun State chapter of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADS), where members of the Islamic organisation declared their support for his candidature and expressed confidence in his victory at the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
The society said its endorsement was based on Oyebamiji’s verifiable Islamic background, exemplary character, and track record as a committed Muslim and bona fide member of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society.
The APC candidate also appealed to eligible voters not to sell their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Don’t sell your permanent voter cards for whatever worth or reason,” he said.
He further urged religious leaders to intensify prayers for a peaceful, free, and credible governorship election in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Osun State chapter of the society, the state secretary, Alhaji Akande Ola Hafiz, described Oyebamiji as a bona fide member of the organisation and expressed the members’ support for his governorship aspiration.
He said, “We are gathered here today to interface with one of our own, the flag bearer of the APC in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
“For those who may not know, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji was born, bred, and nurtured within the Ansar-Ud-Deen family in Ikire. He is here today as a bona fide member with every right to participate in the activities of the society and seek the blessings of his household. What binds us together is our shared faith in Islam.
“As members of the same family, we are immensely proud to have one of our own aspiring to this exalted office.
“This is indeed a historic milestone for our society in Osun State.
“There is no doubt that Asiwaju Oyebamiji is known to us as a gentleman, a peace-loving man, and a leader of humility, discipline, and selfless service.
“His records in both public and private service—as former Managing Director of Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL), former Commissioner for Finance, and former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA)—attest to his integrity, diligence, and foresight.
“He is an outstanding philanthropist, a listening leader, a devoted family man, and, above all, a practicing Muslim who fears Allah.”
Hafiz clarified that the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society remained non-partisan as an organisation but had a responsibility to support members seeking public office.
“Let me state clearly that, as a corporate body, Ansar-Ud-Deen remains non-partisan. However, we will never abandon our own who demonstrate a genuine interest in governance.
“The society recognises the need to support members aspiring to positions of authority. We believe leadership is a sacred trust from Allah, and no one attains it except by His divine permission.
As one family, we will continue to support him with sincere prayers for divine wisdom, protection, and success.
We pray that Almighty Allah grants him the wisdom to lead, the strength to serve, and sincerity in all that he does.”
Also endorsing the APC candidate, the National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Prince Musedik Kazeem Adeniji (SAN), commended Oyebamiji’s contributions to the growth of the organisation and reaffirmed the society’s support for his aspiration.
Represented by the National Vice-President of the society, retired Justice Moshood Adekunle Adeigbe, Adeniji prayed for Oyebamiji’s success at the forthcoming election.
In his remarks, Oyebamiji appealed to the electorate to vote massively for him, saying he was prepared to transform the state.
“My ambition is clear, and I am prepared to take the bull by the horns in transforming our common heritage, our dear state,” he said.
He appreciated the leadership and members of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society for their prayers and support, assuring them that, if elected governor, he would run an inclusive, participatory, and people-oriented administration.
Accompanied by his wife, Alhaja (Dr.) Sekinah Bola Oyebamiji, the APC candidate again appealed to religious leaders to commit the forthcoming governorship election into God’s hands through prayers.
He recalled that he was born into an Ansar-Ud-Deen family in Ikire and said the society played a significant role in shaping his moral upbringing.
“I was born and bred in Ansar-Ud-Deen. I have contributed to the progress of the society and have received 22 awards from Ansar-Ud-Deen.
“I am a bona fide member, and I assure you that when I become governor, I will not disappoint you.
“We will run an inclusive, participatory, and people-oriented government. We will prioritise every sector of the economy, especially security and the welfare of our people, particularly civil servants.
“We will operate a transparent and accountable government. Education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, commerce and industry, power, energy, and the justice system will witness remarkable improvements.
“I appreciate everyone for this show of love and support. Please continue to pray for a peaceful election.
“Let us spread the gospel of AMBO across every part of the state. Our PVC is our power. Don’t sell it. Use it to vote APC; use it to vote Oyebamiji. Insha Allah, I will not disappoint you.”
The event was attended by leaders and members of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society across Osun State, as well as prominent APC leaders and supporters, including the Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke; former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Protocol, Ambassador Issah Niniola; former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke; former Chief Press Secretary to ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Alhaji Ismail Omipidan; APC Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi; former lawmakers; party candidates; local government officials; and other stakeholders.
