The Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has cautioned young Nigerians against sports betting, warning that it is not a pathway to financial freedom or lasting prosperity.

Speaking during a sermon on Sunday, Oyedepo urged youths to abandon the pursuit of quick wealth through gambling, describing it as a habit capable of destroying their future and destiny.

He maintained that genuine success comes through hard work, discipline and patience, not through games of chance.

“Young people, Naija Bet is not the way to financial fortune. Stop wasting your destiny, stop wasting your destiny, stop wasting your destiny. I have never been once deceived. Stop!” he said.

The cleric encouraged young people to remain steadfast even when success appears slow, stressing that achievements built on integrity and diligence are more sustainable.

“Things may be slow, but it is sure,” he added.

To underscore the importance of gratitude and faithfulness, Oyedepo recounted how he honoured the woman who introduced him to Christianity when he was 15 years old.

According to him, he presented her with a car on his 60th birthday, decades after she led him to Christ.

“My mother of faith led me to Christ at 15. When I turned 60, I got her a car that they took to her place in the U.S., she wept. You had better wake up,” he said.
