The Oyo State Government has promoted 1,535 workers across the 33 local government areas of the state, issuing promotion letters under the 2025 local government promotion exercise.
The promotion covers employees on Grade Levels 06 to 17 serving in the Local Government Service Commission and staff across seven departments in the state’s local government system.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Education and Social Services, Lala Foluso, the promoted officers were drawn from Administration and General Services (288), Agriculture and Natural Resources (57), Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics (40), Education and Social Services (431), Environmental Health Services (44), Finance and Supplies (315), and Works, Housing, Lands and Survey (360).
Speaking while presenting the promotion letters on behalf of the commission, Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwole, said the exercise reflects Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, boosting morale and supporting career advancement.
“The promotion is a clear demonstration of the present administration’s commitment to building a professional, efficient and well-motivated local government workforce capable of delivering quality service to the people at the grassroots,” Akinwole said.
“This administration under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde understands that a motivated workforce is the engine room of good govornance.
“The prompt release of these promotion letters is in line with its resolve to ensure that no civil servant stagnates and that hard work is duly recognised and rewarded,” he added.
Akinwole congratulated the affected workers, urging them to see their elevation as recognition for their dedication and an opportunity to serve with greater commitment.
“See the promotion as both a reward for past diligence and a call to greater responsibility in service delivery across all the local governments and the commission,” he charged.
He also reaffirmed the commission’s resolve to sustain regular promotion exercises, strengthen staff capacity through training, and improve workers’ welfare in line with the Omituntun 2.0 agenda of the Makinde administration.
