The coalition of Muslim organisations and stakeholders in the Ijebu zone has endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ogun East senatorial district, Abdulhamid Femi Omotayo, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The endorsement came during a consultation visit by Omotayo and a delegation of PDP leaders and stakeholders to the coalition’s secretariat in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
Omotayo used the occasion to formally present his senatorial ambition and seek the coalition’s support as he begins engagements with key stakeholders in the district.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Alhaji Biodun Mebude described Omotayo as a visionary and humane leader whose commitment to community development, fairness and humanitarian service had earned him recognition in Ogun East.
The convener of the coalition, Alhaji Kehinde Lawal, described Omotayo’s visit as unprecedented, saying it was the first time a senatorial candidate had prioritised the coalition in such a consultation.
Lawal urged members of the coalition to mobilise their resources in support of Omotayo, citing his philanthropic activities, support for education and contributions to the development of society.
He said the 2027 election should go beyond political party affiliations, stressing that competence, effective representation and the ability to give the people a stronger voice in Abuja should be the major considerations.
Another coalition leader, Ustadh Shittu Gihath, described Omotayo as a man who had demonstrated a longstanding commitment to serving humanity rather than waiting until election periods before reaching out to the people.
