Vice Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
Kwankwaso, in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, described Adeleke as his friend and commended him for securing victory in the keenly contested election.
He also congratulated the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights and reaffirming what he described as the power of the people’s mandate.
“As a leader of the opposition and a committed democrat, I commend the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights and reaffirming the power of the people’s mandate,” Kwankwaso said.
The NDC chieftain said the outcome of the election demonstrated the importance of citizens participating actively in the democratic process.
He noted that the election was a reminder that when citizens remained committed to their civic responsibilities and made their voices heard, the will of the people would prevail.
Kwankwaso also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its conduct of the election, urging all stakeholders to continue to support credible, peaceful and transparent electoral processes.
“I also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the election and encourage all stakeholders to continue to uphold the principles of credible, peaceful and transparent elections,” he said.
He further congratulated Adeleke and the people of Osun State on the electoral outcome.
“Congratulations once again to Governor Adeleke and the good people of Osun State,” Kwankwaso added.
