Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party recorded victory over the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State in Saturday’s governorship election.
Results from the local government showed that Adeleke secured 27,085 votes to emerge victorious in the council area, while Oyebamiji polled 19,660 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, garnered 588 votes.
Adeleke has continued to lead the Osun governorship election as results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) reached 95.03 per cent.
An analysis conducted by Dataphyte showed that 3,576 polling unit results had been uploaded as of the time of filing this report, representing 95.03 per cent of the 3,763 polling units across the state.
Tribune Online reports that voters across the 30 local government areas of Osun State participated in Saturday’s governorship election to elect the person who will lead the state for the next four years.
The race is primarily between the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam.
Figures available from the results already uploaded on the portal indicated that Adeleke remained ahead with 505,332 votes, accounting for 52.37 per cent of the ballots counted so far.
Oyebamiji followed with 431,226 votes, representing 44.69 per cent, while Salaam secured 16,583 votes, equivalent to 1.72 per cent of the votes reflected on the portal.
