Youth stakeholders across the South-West are set to converge under the leadership of the Zonal South-West Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adesuyi Daramola, for a major youth leadership and engagement programme aimed at strengthening youth participation in governance and mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office.
The programme, tagged “APC South-West Youth Leadership and Engagement Programme,” is designed to bring together youth leaders, stakeholders and other key actors across the six states of the region (Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti) to deliberate on youth development, political participation and the role of young people in advancing the administration’s development agenda.
Daramola, in a statement on Thursday, said the gathering would also provide a platform for stakeholders to formally endorse President Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, while unveiling a structured programme targeted at empowering, engaging and positioning youths for greater participation in the political process.
The initiative, according to him, is anchored on the theme: “Strengthening Youth Leadership for Progressive Governance and National Development.”
“It is expected to focus on building stronger youth leadership structures and creating opportunities for young people to contribute meaningfully to governance and national development,” the statement reads.
Daramola, who is leading the initiative, is expected to use the programme to further deepen engagement among APC youths in the South-West and promote greater coordination among youth stakeholders across the zone.
The organisers said, “the programme would go beyond political mobilisation,” stressing the importance of equipping youths with leadership capacity and providing a platform for constructive engagement on issues affecting young people and the wider society.
“The planned gathering is expected to reinforce the growing role of youths in the political architecture of the South-West, while providing a common platform for the region’s young APC stakeholders to articulate their aspirations and support for the party’s leadership.”
