YOBE State governor Mai Mala Buni has said the gentleman agreement between the North and South on rotational presidency should be respected in the spirit of justice and fairness to allow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have his second term of office.

This was contained in a statement issued by the DG Press, Mamman Muhammad and made to newsmen in Kaduna on Monday.

Buni stated this in Kaduna on Sunday at the Muslim Intellectual Stakeholders forum organized by Islamic Women Intellectuals in collaboration with the office of the Special Adviser to the President, on Political Affairs, Alh. Kabiru Masari.

Gov. Buni argued that: “if the North enjoyed eight years of two-term tenure, it is only fair and just to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a second term of office”.

He charged the stakeholders to stand firm in ensuring justice and fairness to prevail, and to allow President Tinubu to consolidate his policies, programmes and projects for the benefit of the people.

“The law of justice and fairness should be applicable in all ramifications and, l am glad with the involvement of the Islamic intellectuals into the political programmes to stand on the path of justice, and to enrich Nigeria’s politics, he said.

The governor urged the stakeholders to take the message to their respective states

“We need to benefit from your knowledge. And as Islamic scholars, you have great roles to play to promote fairness and peaceful coexistence at the family, community, local, state and federal levels to give Nigeria the desired peaceful atmosphere to grow and develop” Buni noted.

The Co-convener of the forum and Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, Alh. Kabiru Masari, commended the intellectuals for showing great interest in the political development of the country.

“Your interest is adding more value to Nigeria’s political development and I urge you to put your vast knowledge into use to fast track the developments by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

“You should support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consolidate the policies and programmes of his administration by voting him for a second term of office” he solicited.

The governor of Gombe state and chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, Alh. Inuwa Yahaya, described the engagement of Islamic women scholars into politics as a welcome development considering their pivotal role in family training, institutionalization of social and moral values, and promotion of peaceful co-existence in the country.
