The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, and other stakeholders in Bunu District of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, while also endorsing Senator Sunday Karimi for another term representing Kogi West Senatorial District.
The endorsement was made during a large-scale APC rally held on Saturday at the Community Primary School, Odo-Ape, headquarters of Bunu District.
The district comprises six of the 15 wards in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area: Akutupa-Kiri, Aiyetoro-Kiri (Aiyetoro Gbede), Iluke, Olle/Oke-Offin, Okebukun and Odo-Ape.
The stakeholders said their decision was based on what they described as the leadership, representation and development initiatives of the Tinubu administration and Senator Karimi’s tenure in office.
Speaking at the rally, the APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, urged the people of Bunu to give massive support to President Tinubu and Senator Karimi in the 2027 general elections.
Meseko said the Tinubu administration had implemented policies and programmes in infrastructure, economic reforms, education financing and social interventions, adding that the administration deserved continued support.
According to him, some of the economic reforms introduced by the Federal Government had been difficult, but had also attracted investments and strengthened confidence in the Nigerian economy.
He also commended Senator Karimi for what he described as improved legislative representation in Kogi West, urging constituents to support him for another term to enable him to consolidate on ongoing projects and programmes.
The APC chieftain further cited the movement of some former opposition figures into the APC as an indication of what he described as growing political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
Represented at the event by Hon. Folorunsho Braimoh, Meseko expressed confidence that Bunu District would record strong electoral support for the APC in the 2027 elections.
In his remarks, Senator Sunday Karimi thanked the people of Bunu District for the endorsement, describing it as an indication of their confidence in his representation.
Karimi also expressed support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, highlighting what he described as the administration’s interventions in infrastructure, education, agriculture, economic reforms and security.
The senator listed some of his interventions in Kogi West as educational support for students, empowerment programmes for women through cooperative societies, provision of solar-powered boreholes, reconstruction of the Pakuta Bridge, renovation of schools, provision of electricity transformers and support for youths and farmers.
He said his office had also facilitated employment opportunities and distributed palliatives and agricultural inputs to constituents.
On the Federal Government, Karimi cited the removal of fuel subsidy, establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), clearance of foreign exchange obligations, road construction projects, increased allocations to sub-national governments and agricultural interventions among the initiatives of the Tinubu administration.
Earlier, the Chairman of Bunu District APC, Pastor Obayomi Lawrence, commended Senator Karimi for what he described as significant interventions across the district.
Obayomi specifically mentioned the senator’s student support programme, women empowerment initiatives, provision of boreholes, the Pakuta Bridge project, school renovations and transformers supplied to communities.
He pledged the support of APC members in Bunu District for the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Other speakers, including Dr Ola Elijah Olorunshua, Comrade Bayo Oyenibi Owojola and Hon. Esther Balogun, also spoke in support of the APC’s 2027 political agenda.
The event reached its climax when the member representing Kabba/Bunu State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Seyi Bello, moved a motion seeking the formal endorsement of President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima and Senator Karimi for another term.
The motion was unanimously adopted through a voice vote by the APC stakeholders and supporters present at the rally.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of an award of excellence to Senator Karimi for what the organisers described as “Unequalled Representation in Kogi West’s History.”
