Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has said the state needs the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain in power at the centre to attract Federal Government attention when its people require intervention.
Zulum stated this in Maiduguri on Sunday while addressing a mammoth crowd of party supporters after returning to the state following nearly a month abroad.
He called on the people of Borno to vote for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027, saying the Vice President is from the state and urging them not to let their “son” down.
The governor said the state could not attract the required attention from the Federal Government when the people needed intervention if the APC was no longer in power at the centre.
“Without peace, there is no development. We apologise for any mistakes we made in the course of carrying out our responsibilities as a government,” Zulum said.
Zulum said it was Allah who selected Mustapha Gubio as the APC governorship candidate, adding that, as Muslims, “we believe in destiny”.
He said sustaining the development and restoration of Borno after years of Boko Haram attacks required the people to re-elect the APC and support Gubio to continue from where he stopped.
The governor urged unity within the APC and expressed confidence that the party was not afraid of any opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth and women’s empowerment before the end of his tenure in 2027 and announced that the APC would soon resume its political tour of all 27 local government areas of the state.
