The Yewa-Awori Patriotic Movement (YAPMO) has commended the Ogun State AP governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), describing his political experience and public service record as capable of contributing to an inclusive governance agenda in Ogun State.
In a statement by its General Secretary and Director of Research and Intelligence, Sulaiman Adeniyi Atinsola, the group said Adeola’s experience at both the state and federal levels had exposed him to legislative and public-sector affairs, which, according to it, could be deployed to address some of the state’s developmental challenges.
The organisation particularly cited his involvement in budgetary and appropriation matters in the National Assembly, saying his experience in public finance could be relevant to the management of government resources and the implementation of development programmes.
YAPMO attributed several interventions in road infrastructure, rural healthcare, education, vocational development and human capital development to Adeola, describing them as areas relevant to the developmental needs of communities in the state.
The group said Adeola’s representation of Ogun West had also given him an understanding of the challenges confronting communities in the three senatorial districts of the state.
It called for a governance approach that would ensure that ethnic or senatorial considerations did not determine access to government programmes and opportunities, stressing that all residents should benefit from the state’s development.
“Every member of the state should be part and beneficiary of the success story,” YAPMO said, while expressing support for equal treatment of communities and senatorial districts.
