The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has congratulated the party’s leadership and members following the uploading of the party’s approved logo by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Dickson said the development was in compliance with a High Court order and followed the logo’s approval in accordance with the party’s constitution and its ratification by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the former Bayelsa State governor expressed appreciation to the Nigerian judiciary, as well as INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and members of the commission, for complying with the court judgment.

He also commended the NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, and members of the NEC for their efforts, while appreciating the understanding shown by the party’s candidates and members during the dispute over the logo.

According to Dickson, the uploading of the approved logo would provide certainty for NDC candidates as they intensify preparations for their campaigns.

“Our approved logo has now been uploaded, and candidates can print campaign materials and continue their consultations and campaigns with certainty,” he said.

Dickson said the party remained determined to pursue its political objectives, declaring that efforts to use the judiciary to undermine the NDC had failed.

“We are fighters, and we will fight until the end. We have resisted those who sought to use the judiciary against the party, and they have failed,” he said.

The NDC leader urged candidates across the country to work closely with the party at all levels when constituting their campaign teams, stressing that candidates were running under the platform of the party and not as independent candidates.

He warned candidates against what he described as self-sabotage, urging them to maintain unity and coordinate their campaign activities with the party leadership.

Dickson also called on NDC candidates and members to counter propaganda and misinformation that, he alleged, were being used by opponents to create divisions within the party.

He said the NDC was founded on “vision, selfless dedication, and commitment to democratic ideals”, adding that the party was prepared to defend the democratic rights of Nigerians and promote a strong multi-party system.

“We must now join hands and ensure that all candidates campaign and take their message freely to every part of Nigeria without intimidation,” Dickson said.

He further urged party members to remain united and focused as the NDC moves ahead with its political activities.
