The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KEBSIEC).

This was contained in a letter issued by the Director, Executive Council, Kabiru Hassan Wasagu, signed by the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.

“I am directed to inform you that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission following the expiration of its tenure, with effect from September 18, 2026,” the statement read.

The statement further clarified that the two other members of the Commission whose tenure has not yet expired will remain in office until the Commission is reconstituted.

Governor Nasir Idris expressed his appreciation to the outgoing members for their meritorious service to the state, assuring them of the administration’s renewed determination to safeguard the independence and integrity of the Commission.

“I am assuring you of the renewed determination of this administration to protect the independent status of the Commission,” the Governor said.
