Hon. Kabiru Salami, Executive Assistant to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Security Coordination, has resigned from his appointment with immediate effect.

Salami announced his resignation in a letter dated October 20, 2026, addressed to the governor through the Chief of Staff.

In the letter, he thanked Makinde for the opportunity to serve in his administration, describing the experience as both an honour and a humbling responsibility.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, security and development of Oyo State despite his decision to leave the government.

Salami’s departure comes amid a series of resignations and personnel changes within Makinde’s administration and political circle.

His resignation follows that of Sheikh McNess, while Segun Ogunwuyi, who served as Chief of Staff to the governor, resigned from his position effective October 12, 2026.

Tara Adefope also stepped down as Director-General of the Oyo State Due Process Office.

Following Ogunwuyi’s exit, Makinde appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his replacement.

Similarly, Aderonke Adedayo was appointed to head the Due Process Office while retaining her position as Senior Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies.

Salami’s resignation adds to the recent changes within the governor’s administration, although no reason for his departure was stated in the information available.
