The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has commended Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his administration’s efforts to promote environmental sanitation and make the state one of the cleanest in Nigeria.
Umahi gave the commendation during the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.
The minister praised the state government’s commitment to maintaining a clean, healthy and sustainable environment through various sanitation initiatives, particularly the Operation Kano Tsaf-Tsaf programme.
He urged other states across the country to emulate Kano State’s sanitation efforts and adopt measures to promote environmental cleanliness and protect public health.
“Kano State has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental cleanliness. Other states across Nigeria should learn from its efforts and adopt similar measures to promote a cleaner and healthier environment for their citizens,” Umahi was quoted as saying.
According to a statement issued by Abubakar Ahmad, Public Relations Officer of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), the commendation acknowledged the state government’s efforts to improve environmental sanitation and encourage responsible waste management.
The statement noted that the administration had continued to implement sanitation programmes and environmental policies aimed at encouraging residents to maintain clean surroundings, dispose of waste properly and support government efforts to safeguard public health.
It added that the success of initiatives such as Operation Kano Tsaf-Tsaf depended on sustained collaboration among government agencies, environmental sanitation workers and residents.
The statement urged the state government to sustain its sanitation initiatives and strengthen public participation in environmental management to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment across Kano State.
It also emphasised the importance of consistent sanitation practices in protecting public health and promoting environmental sustainability.
