Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has declared unequivocally that he has no plans to leave the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for any other party for any reason whatsoever.

The governor, who is the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, further declared, “If I leave the PDP for any political party, then I am not the Kaura (warrior) that I am, but a coward. A Kaura (warrior) does not run away from wars.”

Bala Mohammed stressed that he has no reason to leave the PDP, under which he was elected governor for two terms by the people of Bauchi State, adding, “The people of Bauchi State have done a lot for me; I will not abandon them for whatever reason.”

The governor made the declarations while hosting stakeholders from ten local government areas to a Ramadan iftar during the ongoing fast at the Government House on Monday.

He assured that he would continue to remain in the PDP for the sake of Nigeria’s democracy, which requires a purposeful, formidable and virile opposition, stressing that Nigeria practises a multi-party democratic system.

He used the occasion to charge faithful members of the PDP in the state to remain committed, ardent, resolute and supportive of the party and his administration until the end of his tenure.

He also assured that, collectively, Bauchi State would continue to grow and attain greater heights in all ramifications, particularly in terms of infrastructural development.

The governor further assured residents of the state that his administration would continue to partner with relevant stakeholders in critical sectors of the economy to attract development and improve the living standards of the people for sustainable growth and development.

Various speakers at the religious gathering, including representatives from the ten local government areas and other stakeholders, commended the governor for his developmental strides across the state without leaving any segment out, irrespective of political affiliation.

Speaking separately, they pledged their loyalty and support, declaring that they were ready to stand by the governor wherever he is, adding that they would follow him in any political direction he chooses.

The local government areas include Darazo, Misau, Dambam, Zaki, Gamawa, Giade, Shira, Jama’are, Itas/Gadau and Katagum.
