Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of four market leaders to key trade leadership positions in the state as part of efforts to strengthen coordination and promote harmony among traders.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Friday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.

The appointees are Y.K. Abass as Babalọjà General of Oyo State, S.T. Jimoh as Aare Oloja of Oyo State, J.T. Raimi as Asiwaju Oloja of Oyo State, and Princess Folashade Azeezat Nurudeen as Iyalọjà of Oyo State.

According to Oyelade, the appointments were conveyed through a document from the office of the Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Professor Saliu Adedibu.

He said the appointments recognise the contributions of the individuals to trade and commerce, particularly their roles in coordinating trading committees across the 33 local government areas of the state.

Oyelade stated that the appointments are intended to promote unity and cooperation among traders while strengthening the state’s commercial sector.

He noted that the new market leaders are expected to foster better relationships among trade associations and improve coordination within the trading community.

The commissioner described the appointees as experienced merchants with international reputations and considerable influence within Oyo State’s trading community.

He expressed confidence that their experience and commitment to commercial development will positively influence other stakeholders in the sector.

“Their recognition is aimed at promoting unity, cooperation and harmony among trade associations, while strengthening the commercial sector and contributing to the state’s economic growth,” the commissioner said.

Oyelade urged traders across the state to cooperate with the newly appointed leaders, stressing the importance of collective efforts in advancing commerce and economic development.

He added that the Makinde administration remains committed to ensuring effective coordination and management across all sectors of the state’s economy.

According to him, the government will continue to support initiatives capable of driving development, strengthening commercial activities, and improving the state’s economic fortunes.
